When a sheikh is not a shake

Remind me again of what Mark Hughes has won as a manager.

When he played for Manchester United he was a snide little shit. Lots of sly digs, taps on ankles, elbows. But 'cos he played for United it was acceptable. Indeed at that time United was filled with similar players like Moses, Robson and Whiteside.

Now he is a manager and woe betide any one he feels who is snubbing him in anyway.

Remember the time he said Cesc Fabregas had no respect? All the Spaniard had said was that Hughes had played for Barcelona, a club deeply engrained in his psyche, how come he could allow Balckburn Rovers to play like he did as a player.

Hughes went all pissy and got an apology. But Cesc showed balls. Respect has to be earnt and while Hughes may have been appreciated as he grew older there are still those of us who remember him as a player and will therefore accord him no respect at all.

His latest whine is that Arsene Wenger didn't shake his hand after City beat Arsenal 3-0 in the Carling Cup. Aah diddums Sparky you Welsh nobody.

Perhaps it's time you grew up and won a few medals rather than getting all mafiosi about respect.
